My Story

Roberts Vitols wins Latvian Autocross Mini Buggy championship
2008
The Roots

Roberts racing career started when he was only 5 years old following the footsteps of his father Ugis Vitols - auto expert and experienced autocross and rallycross legend in Latvia.

Taking sensational win already in his second race ever and claiming the champion title already in his first full season with a Mini Buggy Roberts future was clear – the world of racing was about to discover a new champion.

From Gravel To Tarmac

Karting - one of the first steps in the ladder to Motorsport elite for every racing driver - also for Roberts.

Again, sensational win in second race ever with karting Roberts continued to progress quickly, bringing back nr 1 on his race car by claiming 2 Latvian Champion titles and Baltic Champion title + bronze during his first two years.

Back To Gravel

After learning crucial tarmac lessons Roberts returns to gravel and crosskart - the first step towards Rallycross.

During first two and only seasons in the very competitive NEZ (Northern European Zone) Championship for 125cc crosskarts Roberts finished 7th and 5th in the standings out of at least 54 drivers each season.

During second season Roberts took two 2nd places out of three races and missed out on championship podium due to bad luck in seasons first race.

Debut With A Car

In addition to crosskart season, Roberts took a part in the same highly competitive NEZ Rallycross championship - but this time for cars in S1600 class driving two categories at the same weekends.

Young Vitols debut race in his home Latvia turned out sensational once again - in the close battle in Final Roberts took his maiden S1600 NEZ victory followed by another 3 podiums making it 4 podiums out of 4 races.

Roberts became up to date the youngest ever NEZ Rallycross Champion at only 14 years of age.

Same season Roberts compleated 5 out of 6 races in Latvian S1600 championship where he finished 3rd overall claiming 3 podiums

Getting Along With The New Car

To progress further in rallycross in 2018 different from previous seasons Roberts family decided to get a private car and run family based team PROVENTO Racing Team in Latvian S1600 Rallycross Championship.

The young Vitols and new car tandem promised a lot and also brought a lot - learning this time. The new car had to be learned and some issues had to be fixed...

It was one of the toughest Roberts seasons to develop as the factors out of his hands in every single race finals didn’t allowed to claim the dominant championship win.

Vitols claimed 2nd place in the championship with his come back winning sights on towards next season.

Back To Winning

Having learned hard and thought lessons Roberts returned to Latvian Rallycross S1600 Championship with only one goal - to win every single race of the season.

Roberts dominated the championship and claimed the title comfortably by winning 4 out of 5 races.

The race Roberts didn't won - in the final of the Round 2 Vitols started from P6 after technical troubles with car. Roberts fought up to 2nd place and only small mistake was made which prevented from winning that race as well and not finishing his ultimate goal to win every single race that season - another lesson learned!

In 2019 summer besides Roberts racing programm in Latvia and UK, he received offer from World Rallycross Championship team SET Promotion to race in their created RX Academy as a part of RallyX Nordic series, focused on making rallycross stars of the future.

First time jumping in turbo powered car, Roberts got along with the new Renault Clio quickly, keeping his name in the Top 3 all weekend and even managing to take Qualification and Semi Final wins.

Roberts finished on a podium taking impressive 2nd place on debut in front of home crowd and leaving a great impression for a world championship level team.

Beginning Of UK Journey

At the end of the 2018 season, Roberts made his debut race in British Rallycross Junior Championship, taking two sensational Qualification wins and was short of a win in the Final only due to a mechanical defect.

Still up to date, Roberts holds the fastest lap record in Lydden Hill for British Rallycross Junior class.

2019 Roberts did full season in championship scoring 3 wins (matching the most) and finishing championship in 3rd place, getting recognized as a fastest driver in the class and slowly making a name for himself in UK.

First UK Championship Title

After Covid impacted delayed season start in 2020, Roberts and his family team PROVENTO Racing Team entered British S1600 Rallycross Championship with a goal to win the main championship prize - one free race with Supercar.

Roberts took 3 wins out of 3 races which turned out to be shorter season than expected, but the British S1600 Rallycross champions title was secured. Roberts became the first Latvian ever to win a championship in any of the British motorsport series.

Impressive Supercar Season

Roberts started his Supercar journey wth a bang - taking a sensational win in his first ever Supercar race in Lydden Hill which was his prize drive for winning supporting S1600 class in 2020.

Roberts continued to impress taking a relatively older car back to the top in every race weekend that nobody before the season expected to be possible.

Taking 3 wins (most of everyone) and 6 podiums in 7 races (most of everyone) at only 18 years of age Roberts finished 3rd in British Rallycross Championship pinnacle category, earning fans sympathies with his driving style and never-ending fighting spirit on track.
